Seattle WCS Class Series

Took our free beginner class and want to know what's next? Looking to improve your WCS skills? There are a huge number of ways to learn West Coast Swing in Seattle. This page is the short version.

Everything below is a series — a set of classes you sign up for and commit to, rather than a drop-in. That commitment lets you build on the previous week instead of starting over, and you get to know the people learning alongside you. Those classmates tend to become the people you dance with for years.

This is a "greatest hits" list, not everything on offer — plenty of excellent teaching isn't listed here. Browse the Seattle Event Calendar for the full picture, and pick whatever fits your schedule, budget and part of town.

In very rough order of how much dance experience they assume:

Reverie Ballroom, Capitol Hill

  • Progressive Series Classes — Tuesdays · 4 weeks

Reverie runs leveled West Coast Swing series alongside its Tuesday social, taught by a deep bench of local pros. Series are monthly. Students get 50% off with proof of current enrollment.

Salsa Con Todo, Fremont

  • 4-Week Series Classes — Mondays · 4 weeks

Short, leveled series that start fresh every few weeks — a good first commitment if six or eight weeks feels like a lot. The beginner class is Mondays at 6pm in Fremont. Series names and start dates rotate each session — check the page for what's running now.

Wren & Scot Dance, Phinney Neighborhood Center

  • Wren & Scot Dance — Mondays · 6 weeks

Three consecutive hour-long classes, so you can take one, two or all three. See the Facebook link for times and class content. Register at the door or email WrenHartDance@gmail.com. Lots of free parking.

Seattle Skill Squad, Greenwood

  • Seattle Skill Squad — Thursdays · 8 weeks

An 8-week program from Wren Newman and Sam Lingane, split into two squads. The "Blue Squad" runs 6:30–8:00pm, "Purple Squad" from 8:00–9:30pm. Money has been set aside for those who could use financial assistance. See the Facebook group for leveling expectations.

Salsa Con Todo Training Teams, Fremont

  • WCS Training Teams — Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays · monthly membership

Four progressive teams that run continuously, with rolling enrollment rather than fixed start dates:

    • Team 1 — Mondays, 7:10–8:10pm
    • Team 2 — Tuesdays, 6:30–8:00pm
    • Team 3 — Thursdays, 6:30–8:00pm
    • Team 4 — Thursdays, 8:15–9:45pm

The monthly membership covers your weekly 90-minute class plus weekly practicas, free drop-in classes and socials, studio access for personal practice, and discounts on workshops and private lessons.

Also Worth Knowing

Several of the regular social dances include a drop-in class before the dancing — a low-commitment way to keep learning between series, and a good excuse to stay for the social afterward.

You can also learn a ton in a weekend at one of the annual WCS events.
