About our guest: Scot McKay (He/HIM)
Scot is beloved in local Seattle WCS community. He first found country dance at The Little Red Hen and fell in love with dancing and the welcoming community there. He later branched out into West Coast Swing and became a pillar of this community, including serving as a Board Member and President of SSDC.
As a primary leader, he brings a unique understanding of momentum and the ability to keep the energy in the partnership flowing. As a dance partner he is excellent at adjusting to his partner and making sure they dance their best dance, and also spinny moves that make you go “Whee!” in a fun way.
You can find him on Mondays teaching the WCS class series with Wren Newman, at Phinney Ridge. On Wednesdays he runs a dance at Mercer Island Veterans of Foreign Wars. On Thursdays he teaches Country Two-Step classes at The Little Red Hen. If there is a local event happening, Scot is probably helping with it in some capacity.
SCHEDULE
2:00 pm Open Floor Practice: Practice solo or bring a partner. Need a space to teach a private lesson? - feel free to use the space, no floor fee. Try our Facebook Practice Club group to look for partners!
3:30 pm Register, warm up, and volunteer to set up
4:00 pm Intermediate WCS Workshop with Scot McKay : Rotation Variations
Prerequisite: No WSDC points required to attend. Make sure you are very comfortable with all basic patterns and a few variations of each (Push, Pass, Tuck, Whip).
5:00 pm All Levels WCS Workshop with Scot McKay : Redirects
Prerequisite: Know basic patterns (Push, Pass, Tuck, Whip).
5:30 pm FREE 1 Hour Beginner Lesson (upstairs) with Alfred & James
6:00 pm Social dance starts, with DJ Scot
9:00 pm Social dance ends & volunteer to clean up
