About our guestS | Miles Van de Wetering (He/Him) and Katia Rar (She/Her)
Katia has been dancing socially and competitively since 2015. She loves to help dancers unlock their inner creativity while building up their technical ability. A DJ and instructor local to Seattle, she is known for her athletic approach and her love for shaping and patience in dance. She can be found DJing sets around town most weeks.
Miles is a west coast swing instructor and competitor based in Seattle, where he teaches weekly at Salsa con Todo and at his own studio in Magnolia. He won the Rising Star Showcase Division at the US Open last year and currently leads the Rising Star tour standings for the 2026 season. Known for workshops that balance solid fundamentals with a sense of humor, Miles focuses on connection, musicality, and making social dancing feel good for both partners. Catch him teaching at Retaliation Swing this year.
SCHEDULE
2:00 pm Open Floor Practice: Practice solo or bring a partner. Need a space to teach a private lesson? - feel free to use the space, no floor fee. Try our Facebook Practice Club group to look for partners!
3:30 pm Register, warm up, and volunteer to set up
4:00 pm Intermediate WCS Workshop with Miles and Katia: “Two Wolves Inside You: Patterns vs Improv”
Prerequisite: No WSDC points required to attend. Make sure you are very comfortable with all basic patterns and a few variations of each (Push, Pass, Tuck, Whip).
5:00 pm All Levels WCS Workshop with Miles and Katia: “Healing Your Anchor Attachment Style”
Prerequisite: Know basic patterns (Push, Pass, Tuck, Whip).
5:30 pm FREE 1 Hour Beginner Lesson (upstairs)
6:00 pm Social dance starts, with DJ MCBeaucoup (Marie-Pascale Cote)
9:00 pm Social dance ends & volunteer to clean up
